Welcome to the San Diego Chapter!

The American Institute of Wine Food is a non-profit organization founded by Julia Child, Robert Mondavi, Richard Graff and others in 1981 to advance the understanding, appreciation and quality of what we eat and drink.

The San Diego Chapter is one of many across the United States. Along with our sister chapters and the national organization, we promote an exchange of ideas that benefit both professionals and dedicated enthusiasts through publications and programs.

Membership is open to all. It is a wonderful way to meet knowledgeable people in the industry and simply a great way to meet others with common interests. We encourage you to attend one or two of our events as a guest.

Please see the national organization's
web page for more details on the AIWF's mission, national events, and links to our sister chapters.

Come see us again!

About The Shores:The Shores Restaurant focuses on exceptional quality and fresh local ingredients.  The restaurant’s surfside views and inviting atmosphere make for a dining experience you won’t soon forget. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, has Happy Hour Monday-Friday, and does catering. The Shores culinary team is lead by Executive Chef and past San Diego AIWF Board Member Bernard Guillas who has garnered many awards and Chef de Cuisine Augie Saucedo who trained at the Mission Inn. Our event chairman is San Diego Chapter Secretary and Scholarship Winner Lisa Redwine. In addition to being a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and having worked as a chef in prestigious San Francisco restaurants, Lisa is a certified sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. She is responsible for the day-to-day food and beverage operations of The Shores Restaurant as well as staff training.

About the Winery:Christopher Creek winery is a small family owned winery located in the heart of Sonoma in Russian River. It is the passion and pride of Fred and Pam Wasserman. The wines we are having are hand crafted and very limited. For the entrée Fred is bringing a special treat of 1999 Cabernet, the second vintage of his  Finlay’s Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley Cabernet to try against the 2005 version of the same. He is also bringing his amazing Port of Petite Syrah. There are only 160 cases of this Port made. These wines have been featuring in such prestigious places as the James Beard House and Jean Georges. He and his wife will be joining us for dinner as well.
