Pairing for Profit
AIWF-OC had their first event in the last six months, and it was a doozie. Twenty members took advantage of an offer by The Wine Lab in Newport Beach to share in the proceeds from a pairing of wine and cheese on a sunny, Sunday afternoon.
Featured wines included two whites: Anseimo Mendes Muros Antigos Vinho Verde from Portugal and Jason-Stephens Chardonnay Estate from California, which were paired with an excellent Lavender-accented goat cheese called Purple Haze, and three reds. The first, a light, bright Tempranillo: Valduero Arbucata Escencia from Spain, which was paired with a California Cheddar, followed by a Napa Merlot, Waterstone and the Jason-Stephens Meritage, both of which were paired with an English cheese called Blue Shropshire.
Conviviality was the mood of the day as friendships were renewed and our newest Member, Ernie Hnatiuk, who used to be in the LA Chapter, quickly was assimilated into the group. All seemed pleased that the Chapter is again active.
We’ll look forward to the next event, August 26, our annual Members Only Beach Party
