Pinot Days joins forces with the American Institute of Wine and Food to offer you a spectacular Pinot Days Winemaker Dinner: Eleven wines, eleven winemakers and incredible one-night only menu specially designed to highlight pinot noir's great stylistic versatility and pairing ability at the brand new Dixie in the Presidio by Executive Chef/Owner Joseph Humphrey, previously of Murray Circle Restaurant and The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa Valley. (He was awarded the Michelin stars at each.) Chef Joseph’s culinary approach celebrates the region’s local, sustainable and organic farms, ranches and artisans will offer starters to enjoy with wines from six pinot producers in a walk-about style, and then a four-course meal to remember, each course paired with two pinots from two different producers. The American Institute of Wine & Food established in 1981 by Robert Mondavi, Julia Child, Richard Graff and others, is a national educational organization dedicated to advancing the understanding, appreciation and quality of wine and food. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and public charity of volunteers, the AIWF is one of the few national organizations with the unique combination of dedicated wine and food enthusiasts and professionals. Today, the organization has chapters across the United States. The Northern California Chapter, one of the largest, has awarded several thousand dollars in scholarships to students at the CIA-Greystone, UC Davis, Napa Valley College, Art Institute-Sunnyvale Culinary School and SFSU. In 2012 the Chapter will begin rolling out AIWF’s signature Days of Taste program in Bay area schools.
