Welcome to the Kansas City Chapter - begun in the fall of 1991, we celebrate over 21 years as an AIWF chapter; over 31 for the national organization. We would like you to be a member! Join us for informative and social food and wine events, as well as the rewards of bringing food taste stories to 4th graders and helping a culinary student each year. Help sponsor a Days of Taste kid - just $20 sponsors one student! Contact Nancy at npotter1@kc.rr.com or Kathy at Pelz4@aol.com for more information.
GIVING BACK: The 2012 Days of Taste® program for 4th Graders ran successfully in October. Several chefs, farmers and volunteers engaged with 4th graders, and one 5th grade group, at Crossroads Academy and Gordon Parks Elementary. Everyone enjoyed it, and everyone learned something! A great time was also had at the Nov 12th celebration party. The 2013 National Conference is scheduled for April 17-21 in Wichita, KS. Details are available in the National portion of this website. Last year, in January, 2012, Nancy and Kathy attended the national meeting of The AIWF in Napa, California. Days of meetings, discussions of mission, goals, legacies; lunches and dinners were outstanding as well as Saturday winery tours. We met several of the original founders of The AIWF, and heard supportive and challenging words from chairman emeritus, Dorothy Hamilton, CEO and Founder of International Culinary Center. All truly inspiring. Also met new national board member, Delia Viader of Viader Winery.
Please see the national organization's web page for more details on the AIWF's mission, national events, and links to our sister chapters. There are also many Facebook pages for AIWF national and chapters - you don't need to be a member to follow any of them. Follow AIWF Kansas City on Facebook.
