Busy Fall: Food, Cooking Demo, Wine, Film & etc. by Harriet Baldwin on 2011-11-03

November 3, 2011

Fellow AIWF Members and friends:

There are still a few seats available for our next event: Tuesday, November 15th, AIWF presents a dinner with Pamela - get all the delicious details just below (after the brief "Report" and "Save the Date" info)!  Email host Chuck Schoendorf at foodfan@optonline.net or visit Pamela's website for even more insight.

Report: It was hard to top the free-to-members dinner at delicious Turkish destination Bereket on October 4th, but we did it: our dinner at Artisan October 25th was wonderful.  All who attended can attest that Artisan is a worthy destination for foodies (some early reports suggested there was more style than substance).  Between us we tried everything on the menu (except the mesclun salad - although we did get to sample the excellent house made dressings on several green salads that appeared as garnish on other plates) and all was wonderful.  Local ingredients and a talent for gently updating classics combined with tasty invention on new dishes add up to a tip-top dining experience at Artisan.

Save the Date: Mark your calendars for the CT-AIWF Holiday Open House, Saturday December 10th from 3pm to 7pm at a lovely home in Fairfield.  We'll take our theme from and watch the 2008 movie "Bottle Shock".  Its topic is the famous 1976 Paris Tasting that pitted wines of Bordeaux against those of California.  California won - a shocking outcome at the time (especially to the all-French judge's panel) .  This BYOB event will be an affordable fundraiser for AIWF's charitable culinary education programs, with some rare and historic wines rumored to make an appearance.  Stay tuned for more details!
