Announcing Winemaker Dinner at Basso on Tuesday March 29th
Please join your friends from the CT chapter of the American Institute of Wine & Food at award-winning Basso Cafe Restaurant in Norwalk for a four-course winemaker dinner on Tuesday March 29th at 7pm.
This evening will highlight hands-on owners for both the food and the wine! Basso owner/chef Renato Donzelli has put together a lovely four-course wine-friendly menu for us (details below). Ravines owner/winemaker Morten Hallgren will share his wines and lend his European flair. Damiani owner/vineyard manager Phil Davis will share his wines and help bring the vineyard alive for us. Stay tuned for lots more info on the wines. On top of all this, we will have all of Basso - the entire restaurant - to ourselves for the evening. Come enjoy great food, wonderful wines, and congenial company at Basso on March 29th!
If you're not familiar with Basso, here's the perfect opportunity to experience "mouth-watering Med-fusion" and "artful plates" at this "standout" according to rave reviews in the NY Times and many others. Here are the menu details (if you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know - Renato should be able to accomodate you):
Passed hors d'oeuvres will include: "Skewers Chorizo Catalan" with mushrooms and peppers drizzled with sherry vinaigrette, Mini Fried Corn Arepas filled with avocado-chicken salad, Warm Cured Pork Tenderloin with melted manchego cheese and roasted peppers over crostini, and Coconut Crusted Shrimp with tamarind ginger sauce.
Appetizer: Risotto alla Milanese with mushroom and saffron
Main Course: Grilled Marinated Skirt Steak with chimichurri sauce served with roasted light garlic potato puree and sicilian caponata
Dessert: Tres Leches - Vanilla cake soaked in three kinds of milk drizzled with caramel
Thanks to the generosity of the wineries and purchasing power of AIWF, we are able to keep the cost quite reasonable for such a blow-out event: $95 per person for AIWF members and $120 per person for non-members (add $10 per person for any payment received after Mar 22nd-you still must RSVP by the March 22nd deadline).
To RSVP and pay with credit card via PayPal, click here on or before March 22nd.
To RSVP and pay via check, please email the names of attendees to stuAIWF@aol.com and mail your check to CT-AIWF, PO Box 57, Southport, CT 06890 to arrive no later than March 22nd.
