Chicago is a food town. And the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food is here to help epicures experience Chicago's diverse cuisine in all its glory.

In 1981, when most Americans had never heard of small plates, sustainability or Syrah, Julia Child and Robert Mondavi founded the AIWF. Their Mission: To enhance quality of life through education about what we eat and drink.

Today, the national non-profit organization has grown to 27 chapters with over 4,000 members across the country. In Chicago, where food is central to our heritage, the AIWF is committed to expanding our culinary horizons in the context of culture, craftsmanship and community. AIWF Chicago offers a range of events and educational opportunities for food enthusiasts, seasoned professionals, culinary students and kids in the community:

Cooking Classes: Chef-led adventures will improve skills and expand even the most sophisticated palates.

Local Flavor: Experience everything Chicago has to offer with culinary excursions like A Day on Devon and A Cook's Tour of Lincoln Square.

Wine Wisdom: Discover hidden gems, explore the complex relationship between food and wine, and sample sought-after cult wines with sommeliers and industry icons! Join us for a range of creative events designed to please your palate and increase your wine IQ.

Foods in Focus: Whether it's cheese, chocolate or coffee, our Foods in Focus series let's you explore the finer points of your favorites with in-depth immersions including hands-on classes and expert-led tastings.

In addition to events designed to expand members' culinary horizons, the AIWF mission extends to other groups in the community through initiatives like Days of Taste®, an interactive culinary education curriculum for children, and scholarships for students of local culinary arts and enology programs.

Membership in AIWF is open to all. Our events are a great way to meet other foodies, to connect with industry professionals, and to indulge your passion for food and drink!
