Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter!

The American Institute of Wine Food is a non-profit organization founded by Julia Child, Robert Mondavi, Richard Graff and others in 1981 to advance the understanding, appreciation and quality of what we eat and drink. The Atlanta Chapter is one of many across the United States. Along with our sister chapters and the national organization, we promote an exchange of ideas that benefit both professionals and dedicated enthusiasts through publications and programs.

Membership is open to all. It is a wonderful way to meet knowledgeable people in the industry and simply a great way to meet others with common interests. We encourage you to attend one or two of our events as a guest. Please see the national organization's web page for more details on the AIWF's mission, national events, and links to our sister chapters.

Congratulations to Laura Stieglitz, our 2009 Deen Terry Scholarship winner!

The 2010 Deen Terry Scholarship Applications are NOW being accepted!  They are due on May 31st this year and the winner will be announced on July 1st!

April WONDERFUL Wednesday was held at Pura Vida, where we enjoyed sumptuous appetizers, and many stayed to feast on Chef Hector's tasty tapas.

Our March WONDERFUL Wednesday event took place at The Porter Beer Bar and a number of our members attended and had a great time!  Several also stayed, shared a meal and had an opportunity to peruse the beer and wine menu.

Rumi's Kitchen hosted our Passport dinner on the silk road!

In February Our PASSPORTS had us traveling to Chateau Siagon on February 25th for a sold-out event! The meal & the company were both outstanding! WONDERFUL Wednesday was an evening at the Spice Market specializing in Asian fare.

The cold didn't keep many away from our first event of the year, WONDERFUL Wednesday at Miller Union! Several stayed and enjoyed a WONDERFUL meal as well!  And on January 25th a small group had their PASSPORTS stamped at Cafe Bombay!

DSCN0487Our annual Days of Taste program was held on December 1st. This year we held the event at E.L. Connely Elementary School. Over 60 fourth and fifth graders learned about food and how it weaves it's way through our daily lives from the farm to the table.  Chef Calvin Rouse ~ The Everyday Chef joined us and did a demonstration on locally grown lettuces, herbs and vegetables & how to make a homemade dressing for your salad.  Then local farmer Rashid Nuri from Truly Living Well Farms shared a video on how food is grown here at his farm in Atlanta.
